It is so hard to believe that Abby and Emily are going to be 6 MONTHS OLD this week! It seems like just yesterday that I was trying to stay awake long enough to make it from my room to the NICU to meet our little girls for the first time. Below is a picture of the girls on one of their blankets with their buddy Lydia Krans. They were about 3 weeks old in the picture. The next picture is of the girls at 5.5 months on the same blanket. We're looking forward to spending some time with the Krans family next month and seeing if Abby and Emily have started to catch up with Lydia (probably not :)

The weather has been awesome lately and we've been trying to spend as much time outside with the girls as possible. Byron hung some swings below our deck and the girls really seem to love them. They giggle the whole time.
On Saturday it was about 80 degrees outside so we decided to take the girls on an ice cream walk. Unfortunately, they slept through much of it and only Emily woke up in time to try any. She didn't seem very excited about and it wouldn't even lick it off her lips. I think it may have just been too warm outside for them. They ended up sleeping for much of the weekend.

They don't need to wear socks now!
We were given an activity table that they really seem to enjoy. Emily can stand there and play all by herself (we can't really go far though as she sometimes decides to tip backwards)
Abby is starting to become a very good independent sitter:
After a little while she usually forgets to balance and she tips over
We think that the girls are teething as they always have something in their mouths - toys, fingers or one her sister's limbs. Emily has been a bit moody lately and given that she is normally very pleasant we've been blaming it on teething.
Emily has figured out that she doesn't just have to look straight up when she's lying down so she squirms all around so that she can see the whole room.
She loves to make funny faces
Grandma (Taryn's mom) decided that Abby needed some pigtails, so she made some and taped them to her head. Abby wasn't sure about the look.
Abby seems to be on a constant mission these days. She is usually very busy with her toys.

Definitely agree with the teeth...esp. if they don't have any yet...it's kind of the way that it goes now until 2 yr. molars, but you get better at dealing with it. And ibuprofen (motrin) is better than tylenol and the baby oragel is def. good...that ice cream dislike def won't continue.
Those girls are so beautiful! I can't believe they can sit up -- how "big girl" of them :)
We have the same Baby Einstein mat, but it looks like you have it rigged up with some different toys? What beautiful photos too. What kind of camera is that?
They are getting very good at sitting, but of course they haven't figured out how to get to the sitting position alone yet...we still help them with that.
They do love the Baby Einstein mat. Their absolute favorite toy that we've added is the Eric Carle Ladybug toy (http://www.carlemuseum.org/Shop/Eric_Carle_Themes/Grouchy_Ladybug) we got it as a gift, but they sell it at Target for like $12. They even fight over it! It's so funny. They really love playing with the legs and mirror. I'd definitely recommend it.
The camera is the Canon XSI/450D with a Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM lens. AWESOME PURCHASE. The pictures are SO much better than our little point and shoot cannon.
