Both sets of grand parents have come and gone. Taryn is very tired and just a tad overwhelmed. The medication that makes her feel lethargic will continue until noon tomorrow, so the best time for visits will be after noon.
It's been a long day and mother and daughters have done well. But now it's bed time. (Maybe just a few midnight blogs if Taryn can't sleep and gets bored.)

Back to waiting...
Taryn is resting comfortably though because of the medications she's on, she may not be able to visit Abby and Emily until tomorrow. We're ordering dinner and waiting for more family to arrive for visits after work.
Taryn is happy to have visitors tomorrow. We'd be happy to visit Abby and Emily with anyone interested as long as they are at least 16 years old and are not currently sick in any way. (Well, those sick in the head will be considered on a case by case basis, to accommodate certain family members.)

Abby... is still on a ventilator but with normal room air and at very low pressure. The doctors say she is improving steadily and overall is doing "great".

Emily... is smaller but doing absolutely great with no problems at all.

We're back from the OR and Abby and Emily are out and doing well. They are early and small so both are being closely monitored right now. Pictures to follow as soon as they are stabilized and we visit them in the NICU.
Let the medications begin...

Fun in the hospital
Babies are likely coming tomorrow!
So I went to the hospital for my steroid shot this morning and they decided that things weren't going well and decided to admit me. It looks like the preeclampsia has gotten worse and the girls will be arriving tomorrow sometime. We'll get an update sometime within the next few hours and hopefully have some solid plans to share soon.
Where we stand
Well, right now it's 1:17am on October 30, 2008. Yes, I am awake and no, it's not because I want to be. The girls seem to be having a party inside me just like every other night and on top of that I'm just not comfortable any more.
The latest news on the pregnancy is that I have developed pre-eclampsia and as a result the girls could be delivered any time. Today I'm 33 weeks and 4 days into this pregnancy. The last resort delivery date is December 1, 2008 however there's just about no chance I'll make it that long. Yesterday I started a series of steroid shots to help the girls' lungs develop a bit faster (although they are usually in pretty good shape by 34 weeks which is this Sunday!) in the event I need to deliver during the next week or so. It does look like the pregnancy is going to be wrapping up soon!
I am currently having ultrasounds and fetal non-stress tests twice a week until delivery to make sure the girls are healthy inside me. At my last ultrasound (yesterday) they looked great. At the last growth scan ultrasound (nearly 3 weeks ag0) they were both pushing 4lbs each, so by the next growth scan (next Wednesday) they should be well on their way to 5lbs each.
Ok, I think that's it for tonight. I'll be sure to post an update when I know more!

Introduction
Hi everyone! As you all probably know Byron and I are currently awaiting the arrival of our twin daughters sometime in November! The primary purpose of this blog will be to keep our friends and family up to date on the status of their arrival for the time being, and once they arrive we'll post updates and pictures so you can be creepy and stalk them. Oh wait, no please don't do that. We will try to at least give you a glimpse into what's going on in our lives through the blog without anything creepy going on.
