I'm trying to be better about posting so I don't lose you all so this week I'm going to post 2 times! The good news for the week is that Abby and Emily are sleeping through the night again. It turns out they like their room REALLY warm. Not like 68-70 which is what most babies are happy with, rather 75-80. So that's if that's what it takes to make them sleep all night at this point, that's what they'll get.

On Sunday night we were sitting in the living room and the girls were on the floor together. Emily started crying and we ignored it for a couple minutes thinking that she was just being fussy. When Byron finally got to her he found that Abby had thrown up in Emily's eye! Poor Emily...we thought she was just being crabby.

My mother has been watching the girls while I go to work. She seems to be having a little too much fun with the girls:

I haven't been very good about updating the blog lately because we've been so busy since I've been back to work. The girls have learned so many new things and have gotten so big since I last posted. Abby is now a little over 10lbs and Emily is now a little over 9lbs! They recently went through a growth spurt and since then have decided that they no longer like to sleep through the night :( They sleep from about 9pm - 3:30am and then I feed them and they sleep again until about 6:30. It could be worse, but I do miss the month of them sleeping through the night. Hopefully they'll start back up again soon. I keep telling them that I'm tired but they don't seem to have any compassion.

The newest skills that the girls have include copying us when we wave at them and laughing!

We had a few developmental specialists come meet with the girls to see if they were lagging in any areas (this is standard when a baby is born very prematurely). Both Abby and Emily were evaluated and it was determined that they were pretty much right on track with full term 3 month olds even though they should only be about 1.5 months right now!

Today we had a big day - the girls went to get their ears pierced! There are pictures at the end of the post.

The girls talk to each other in their bumbo chairs:

Sleep!

We've had an eventful week and a half since I last posted! First, I went back to work. Abby and Emily have been staying with my mom and will continue to stay with her over the next couple weeks. They seem to be having lots of fun with her. The girls have been learning all kinds of new things - they are smiling a lot now and have been babbling to each other when they lie down together. They are starting to become much more interactive. Next comes the biggest and most exciting news as far as I'm concerned...ABBY AND EMILY HAVE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT 3 TIMES IN A ROW!!!!!

Abby and Emily like to play punch each other

The girls got new toys called "Bumbo" chairs. They are able to sit upright in them and see the world from a more grown up perspective. They are doing a great job holding their heads up!
IMG_3910

Byron was holding Abby and he decided to put her upside down. It scared me at first but she seemed to enjoy it

Uncle Jake fed Emily for the first time

When given the opportunity the girls like to sleep on their stomachs. Unfortunately it can't happen very often because someone needs to be with them when they sleep this way.

One of their new favorite things is snuggling and playing by the fire.

Abby seems to have gotten a bad reputation for being violent...Emily can be equally violent :)

Even in her sleep Abby is ready to defend herself

The girls are now a little over 2 months old! Time has flown. They have been doing great with their weight gain - Abby now weighs 7lbs, 13 ounces and Emily now weighs 6lbs, 13 ounces. Abby has definitely been packing on the pounds. Check out how chubby her legs have gotten compared to the last time I posted a picture of her on the changing table:

Last week they were lying on their play mat with their toys and I looked over to find Emily eating Abby's hands. Emily seems to chew on Abby any chance she gets (see the older post where Emily was eating Abby's face).

Then Abby stopped playing nicely and started punching Emily.

When Emily gets sick of tummy time she falls asleep - she loves to nap on her stomach.

During the night when the girls get up at the same time (which they almost always do) they eat in their car seats or bouncy chairs. Here's Emily with a milk goatee.

Bertha from Byron's work made some adorable sweaters for the girls. Here's Emily modeling hers:

Today was my first day back at work. Byron stayed home today because the girls had a doctors appointment. Here are the pictures that Byron took while they were there. They have started to interact a lot more with each other and are very funny to watch when they lie down together.
