Before I get into the blog could you do me a favor? If you check this blog (even if it's rarely) could you either post a comment to let me know you're here or shoot me an e-mail if you're too embarrassed to let people know you read this stuff :) The reason I ask is that I got a few terrible comments a couple weeks ago and had to delete them. I also unlisted this site from google and other search engines. I want to make sure that there are actually people reading to make sure it's worth my publishing it still. I like having it for my own records. Each year I transfer it to book form for the girls when they're older, but I can do that without putting it on such a public forum. If I'm going to put this sort of info out there I want to make sure someone actually making use of it (other than creepy stalkers). According to my stat tracker I'm getting about 60 NEW visitors a month and nearly 200 unique visitors. Clearly those are not all my friends. I have found my pictures on anti-ear piercing sites and THAT IS CREEPY. I am considering making this password protected, so speak now if you're interested.

Ok, that's enough of that.

It seems as though I have a real lack of any sort of update this time around. Our lives are mostly consumed by disaster cleanup and mitigation lately.

Let's start simple. One of the girls' new favorite activities is standing in the front windows of the house to watch traffic. That would be fine if we had floor to ceiling windows. We don't. They climb up the couch. This would also be fine. I'd happily let them stand on the couch to look out, but no...this is not sufficient. They climb the couch and then stand in the window. When they don't have socks on they try to climb up the window to stand on the little ledge half way up. They have also taken to throwing themselves back off the ledge onto the couch. Sometimes they miss the couch.

Their profiles crack me up. Emily:

Another lesson we've learned: If one of us is walking down the stairs to the 1st floor and we hear Abby scream, it means we're in for a surprise. Abby is acting as Emily's lookout! This happens on a daily basis. Last week I was coming down stairs and I heard Abby screech and I heard little feet running. Abby stood in the middle of the kitchen looking up at Emily on the counter.

Have I mentioned that Emily loves the counter and especially the sink? We recently heard grinding in the disposal and found tons of junk in there. Emily loves to make it run. That's nice and safe.

Then, I heard another scream on Sunday. I had just used the little hand vacuum to clean up a mess. I came downstairs to find the girls had emptied the vacuum and were EATING THE DIRTY COOKIES FROM IT. They are such filthy little grubby children.

That's it for the trouble update :) I'm sure as the age of 2 nears in less than 2 months we'll have lots more where that came from.

Sorry about the rant...seriously please let me know if you're reading so I can decide how to proceed in terms of future blogging and password protection. Thanks!

I check out your blog regularly, though I can break down and join Facebook if necessary. Let me know what you decide.

I check in on you as well Taryn - you're in my reader. Sounds like you've been hit by some creepy stuff though - I don't allow comments on my blog for just that reason. That could be an option - just turn off commenting?

Hey Taryn -
I subscribe via Google Reader so I always see it as soon as there's a new post! (Not sure if I count as creepy or not, so that may be a pro or a con). Let me know what you decide!

I subscribe to your blog through Google Reader so usually read your posts as soon as I see it is there. We don't get to your neck of the woods very often so it is great to see what the kiddos are up to.

I love hearing the adventures and misadventures of my nieces since I don't see them as much as I'd like. Your blog is in my Google Reader - though another friend password protected his blog and now Reader can't see any of the new updates. I follow the photos on Facebook as well, but you always craft them into such good narratives on the blog!

I check in from time to time =) At some point I'm actually going to get back to MA and meet the girls in person...

We check in from time to time. I need to find out what Google reader is so I can get notified. The nice thing about posting in FB is that I can comment on individual pictures, like the ones of the girls in the window: "Let me out of here for Mercy's sake!"
